My husband, Joseph and I have now become new members of Art Gallery Kurnell which is run by a cooperative of nine artists.
The Art Gallery which opened in 2008 is situated in a lovely position on the edge of the historic part of Botany Bay on the waterfront, near the National Park, which makes it an ideal place to visit. Come and wander around the gallery to see unique, original art. View various paintings including watercolours and drawings, photography, crafts and gift cards. See a painting demonstration in progress. Have coffee in the cafés next door and stroll along the beach path to visit Captain Cook’s landing place. The gallery is open 10am to 4pm weekends or by appointment.
Photography is a two-pronged process involving capture and post-processing.
For me, capturing an image is more than just taking a snapshot; it is about composition, point-of-view, shapes, lines and textures.
Post-processing, on the other hand, is where I believe the real magic happens. It is the creative process where I can change an image to evoke an emotion or tell a story and I use a variety of editing software to achieve this. The editing process is a way for me to express my thoughts and feelings.
While I like to explore different genres of photography, my main aim is to make images that are visually atmospheric, ethereal, dramatic or moody. I also like to create images that are abstract, either naturally or through digital manipulation.
My goal is to always experiment and grow as a photographer and to create captivating images.
